Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017A horrible thing that sometimes happens while moving is breaking an important item… specifically your television…. All of use at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know how unfortunate it is to to finally get all unpacked but not be able to sit down and relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stressless as it can be here in Austin, whether your move is local or long distance. That’s why we’ve get together a few tips and tricks for you need to pack up your TV. First off, you will need a box that’s appropriate for your TV. The perfect box to use is the box that your TV first came in – if you still have that. If you threw it out, you can buy a box designed for moving flat-screen TVs from either a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should use a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Moving fragile and expensive items requires packing and preparation training and knowledge, not simply big moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move, however they can, even if that means packing up your television. Before unplugging everything, a great thing to do is take a photo of the strip on your television with the cords plugged in. This will make it much easier when it’s time to reinstall your television. After this, start getting your TV ready to go. First take out the power cord, then unplug all the other connecting wire. Put everything into a bag together and keep it with the box. You may have a base you need to remove from the television so you can get it into the box. When that’s the case, put all screws and other parts into a small bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so all the parts stay together. Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are going far from Austin or you are just moving locally, it’s important to make sure your television is well covered. Get foam pieces to go over the TV screen, these will come in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen from being scratched, but it also keeps your television from shifting around in the box during the move. You can secure the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and stop it from becoming scratched. Once your TV is all covered up it’s finally time to put it in the box! Keep your TV upright as you do this, and make sure it’s secure by stuffing holes with more sheets and blankets. This will help keep the TV from moving around in the box during the move. The last step is to get the TV in the moving truck. Keep the box upright and get it next to other flat surfaced, secure items, like your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. You can’t forget to put the cables close to the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box. After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Austin to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
