Moving to Austin Can Be a Fresh Start

By Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group

Moving to New Home

If you move to a new town, it is a shot to get a fresh start. You may not know anyone. While this may be scary at first, it is also a shot to work on who you are. You need to discover all the great things to do in Austin, find new friends, and focus on becoming a better version of yourself.

Get Organized

After you pack up all of your things to move to Austin, you literally get to begin from scratch in your new residence. This is a chance to get organized once and for all as you commence to unpack all the boxes.

If you have always pondered a new layout in your living room or bedroom, there is no better time. You can switch up the colors, the arrangement, and even purge certain things that you no longer want ahead of putting them away. Of course, it's always best to donate them prior to moving them – but this is a chance to get organized.

Create "Me" Space

As you unpack and move furniture around in your new abode in Austin, make sure that you set up a space especially for you. This can be your cozy spot when you have had a stressful day. No matter if it is a "man cave" or a book nook in your bedroom, design an area that you will love to spend time in.

Do Something New

Most people have activities that we have always longed to do. Perhaps you have always wanted to learn more about town’s big band or enroll in an art class. Once you are in your new area, go for it. Find a studio or group that will help you with the training. It is an opportunity to learn something different and meet some new people in the process.

Break Bad Habits

You could have a bad habit or two that you aren't proud of. It may be that you don't dust your furniture often enough or that you smoked at your old residence. Regardless what it is that you desire to modify, now is the perfect time. You are in a new residence, allowing you to begin from scratch. If you don't want to be consumed with the same habits, make the choice to change. You might also want to leave yourself notes from time to time so that you remember why you are ditching those habits.

Meet the Neighbors

You may or may not know all the neighbors in your present block. Once you move, make sure that you put in the effort to meet everyone. Even if some neighbors may make the first move to welcome you to the neighborhood, there is nothing wrong with introducing yourself and taking the initiative. Meeting those who live next to you can be a great safety feature. You don't have to be best friends but it can be helpfule to have a contact who will watch out for your home when you are not there and vice versa.

Don’t forget that moving to Austin is only as worrisome as you make it out to be. If you know that you are relocating to a new town with the desire for a new beginning, it can be a positive boost. You may be excited to get started on a new chapter in your life in Austin. Make a to-do list for your home and for yourself so that you keep in mind all of the stuff that you want to achieve. Once you have officially settled in, you should then start on that list.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
