For many of us, moving will never be a good time. Actually, even the easiest of relocations could have a little bit of stress.
Still, whenever something goes horribly wrong on moving day, it's easy to feel as if your world is reaching an end. Rather than battling with such a disaster, it is so much better to prepare for all contingencies.
Below are some common moving day problems, and how you can stay away from them:
Your Household Furniture Will not Fit
Upon traveling for countless hours to Austin, you at long last arrive at your new home... only to find that you can't push the couch through the entry way. That could be an enormous disappointment, and a huge trigger of stress.
Solution: Measure your large furnishings for all their dimensions. Make sure you review whatever you take note of with the dimensions of your new residence, as well as your new house's entrance doors.
Your Travel Plans Fall Through
In the event you wait until the last instant to make travel arrangements (including hotel reservations for long distance moves, or plans for a buddy or two that may help you transport your stuff) then it is increasingly likely that they may fall through, and you'll be left scrambling.
Solution: Try to organize your travel preparations at least a month beforehand. Set alerts for yourself if you have to.
Belongings are Ruined in Transit
It could be among life's most discouraging ordeals to at long last arrive at your new house, open the moving truck's door... and see that lots of your valued possessions have been decreased to destroyed pieces dispersed throughout the boxes.
Solution: In most cases, inappropriate packing techniques tend to be the root cause of damage incurred in transit. Employ proper packing containers and boxes for each fragile item that you're bringing. Be sure to use a good amount of bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or whatever else is required to protect and support your belongings throughout the move. Or, it's possible to ask your professional mover in Austin for help packing items. Many moving companies can pack as much or as little as you'll need.
You Find Yourself Spending More than You Expected
A few days before the move, you find out that your bank account is going to take a greater hit than you originally assumed. The moving company in Austin is charging you a higher fee for their assistance.
Solution: Various moving companies do bill higher charges for "last minute assistance." To obtain the best rates, never put things off: book your movers as far beforehand as you possibly can and always get a written estimate from the moving company in Austin you choose.
In Part 2 of our Moving Disasters posts, we will discuss additional issues that could throw a wrench into your moving plans and how to prevent such troubles. Stay tuned!
